Max Papis is unhappy with Jacques Villeneuve

The race was set for a green-white-checkered finish, and as it went back to green, Jacques Villeneuve , driving the #22 Dodge Challenger , tried to make a move to the outside to gain position on the leaders. Villeneuve quickly ran out of road, however, and as he dove in to stay off the grass, he bumped Brian Scott’s #11 Toyota , sending it into the gravel, and then cut off Max Papis, driving the #33 Chevrolet . Papis went hard into Villeneuve’s Dodge, then slid off the track into the wall. Thanks to the ubiquitous in-car radio feeds in NASCAR coverage, we got to hear Papis react with a disgusted, “Thank you, Jacques. Good job,” followed by, “I knew the 22 was going to do something stupid.” As everyone pitted, Villeneuve caught plenty of flack. Scott was first in line, riding up behind Villeneuve and bumping his Dodge as it entered the pits. Then, a ticked-off Papis pulled alongside and parked to give Villeneuve a piece of his mind. As for the race itself, two more green-white-checkered attempts were needed to being it to an end. Reed Sorenson was awarded the win as the race ended under yellow, taking first after race officials ruled that Ron Fellows, who appeared to be the victor, had gained position on Sorenson after the yellow flag had come out. As for Jacques Villeneuve? He podiumed, finishing third. Hit the jump to watch the Villeneuve mishap. The short clip after the break is apparently the abbreviated version of an upcoming short film featuring Kravitz taking the 2011 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited off the beaten track. Some of you may recall that this isn’t the first time that Mr. Kravitz’ music has been used to promote the off-road-ready sport-utes of the world . As a bonus, Chrysler threw in a sample of the music on Kravitz’s new record, Black and White America . From what we can tell, the upcoming short will feature Kravitz and the Wrangler getting down and dirty in an abandoned swamp. Click past the jump to see the action for yourself. Pennsylvania dealer loves Vanishing Point, creates Kowalski Edition Dodge Challenger

Pennsylvania dealer loves Vanishing Point, creates Kowalski Edition Dodge Challenger

Filed under: Car Buying , Coupe , Chrysler , Dodge As if you needed any reminder, in the 1971 film Vanishing Point , a character by the name of Kowalski is tasked with making it from Colorado to San Francisco in a 1970 Dodge Challenger. Kowalski bets a friend that he can make the run in just 15 hours, but – Spoiler Alert – he doesn’t make it… and neither does the muscle-bound coupe. The flick has been a cult favorite for years, and one of its fans, Bob Frederick of New Wilmington, Pennsylvania, got some help from Chrysler to create 10 2011 Kowalski Edition Dodge Challengers. Starting life as a traditional 2011 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 , these white coupes have had their stripes removed and a handful of options added on. Inside, a pistol-grip shifter sits at attention and a numbered dash plaque is mounted nearby. On the outside, the Kowalski Edition Challengers sport Mopar quad exhaust tips, Scat Pack Bee decals in the rear quarter windows and a tasteful Kowalski Edition decal on the rear spoiler. All 10 2011 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 Kowalski Edition cars have been spoken for, so if any owners are reading this and want their car delivered quickly, we can help set that up. We promise to avoid bulldozers and the fuzz. Review: 2011 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392

Review: 2011 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392

Filed under: Coupe , Performance , Dodge , Reviews God’s Own Engine Wrapped In The Most Appropriate Package 2011 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 – Click above for high-res image gallery Though it’s cleverly disguised as an automobile, don’t be fooled. The 2011 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 is the world’s ultimate portable smoke generator. The fact that it can pull double-duty as a method of transportation is nothing but a quirky side benefit to its purpose in life. Consider it a value-added feature that helps justify its seemingly high $45,000 price tag. It’s really quite ingenious. All that’s required to create your own massive plume of thick white smoke is premium-grade gasoline and two 245/45ZR20 tires, both of which are readily available, and both of which are consumed in roughly equal quantities. The actual process of making the smoke-screen is so simple even a caveman could do it. One step: Mash the throttle pedal to the floorboard. Done. Strangely enough, during our First Drive of the beast , we found out that it’s possible to do other things with the Dodge Challenger SRT8 392. For instance, with a modicum of restraint at the specific point at which your right foot comes into contact with the throttle pedal, you can drive the 392 in a straight line. Equally as surprising, at least to those who know anything about classic muscle cars, the Challenger is even capable of traveling in directions other than forward, and for more than 1,320 feet at a time. We’re just as shocked as you. We decided to borrow one of these weapons of mass (tire) destruction for a week with two goals in mind: to see both how much smoke can be created from one set of tires (or one tank of gasoline, whichever comes first…) and how the most powerful Challenger fulfills the unlikely role of an everyday driver.
